Worthy Matron Meredith Kuharenko Myrtle Chapter No. 13 will be hosting the annual Valentine Salad Luncheon on February 12th from 11am to 2pm. The cost is $7 for Adults and $3 for Children. We will also have Basket Auctions, Raffles, a Craft and Bake Table, Door Prizes and More! Myrtle Chapter No.13 had their Christmas
Luncheon at their first December meeting. Gifts were exchanged
between the Secret Pals and as always there was good food and
leftovers. The caroling had been canceled as it was so cold, but we
implemented them in our meeting to celebrate the occasion.
For the meetings in November and
December we had a Warming Tree for donated hats, mittens, scarves or
anything that would ‘keep you warm’. Added to that were
donations to the Food Shelf and it was a great success. An
additional $100 was donated to the CAC for the Food Shelf from out
Sunshine March. It was greatly appreciated as the shelves were down.
The Vets were honored in November. We
are fortunate to have Marines, Navy, Army and Air Force represented
in our Chapter and are thankful for their past service.
Feed My Starving Children has been a
charity we discussed to participate in. The Masons are interested,
as well, and this will probably happen in April or May of this year.
It is a wonderful opportunity for us to all work together for a very
good cause.
We approved a petition for a new
member, Russel Franek, in January and initiated him at our second
meeting. We are happy to have a new member.
Our Valentine Luncheon will be held
Feb. 12th from 11:00 until 2:00 at the Lodge. There will
be a Silent Auction with various baskets, door prizes and raffles,
not to mention good food. Hope to see you there. |

After the June picnic we resumed out meetings in September with the Rob Morris Observance. Most of us had not seen each other all summer and it was a great time to catch up on things.
We celebrated birthdays and anniversaries from June until September. Several of us took classes over the summer to qualify as Certified Adult Volunteers to help assist the Job’s Daughters as they begin their new Bethel. We are excited to have them again be active here at the Lodge.
Our big fundraiser was a Pampered Chef Party and all who attended enjoyed the presentation and food prepared by Tanya Devos. Members of the Hastings Electa Chapter also joined us and as they are hosting a party November 13th many of us will attend as well.
Our October meetings wrapped up with our School of Instructions with Cynthia McDonald as our District Instructor. A potluck preceded the meeting and once again we enjoyed each other’s recipes and favorite dishes.

On June 22nd, Myrtle Chapter No.13 had their Annual Picnic at Rambling River Pavilion in Farmington. Lots of good food and good weather—hot, but good. The rains held off for the picnic. Meredith’s favorite food was Veranica Harper’s “frogs eye salad”. Many of us asked for her recipe.
Fathers were given their gifts as we had unexpected visitors the meeting we honored fathers. There were not of them enough to go around. We ate, laughed and enjoyed each other’s companionship until we meet again in the fall.

On June 19, Myrtle Chapter No. 13 held their First Annual Bake Sale combining with the Masons of Corinthian Lodge 67 Pancake Feed. It was a highly successful day for all. Because Farmington was also hosting Dew Days there was a constant stream of people, young and old alike, looking for a good breakfast and baked goods to take home for a snack later. It’s always nice when you don’t have to bake, especially in hot summer weather. Everyone had a good time, ate well and got a good look at our newly remodeled Lodge. Thank you to all who contributed and helped at the Bake Sale. We decided, with the Masons, that this was a “Do Over”

Myrtle Chapter has had an exciting start to their new term. Jimmy Harris from the Faribault Job’s Daughters and several others attending our last meeting stating that they are planning on resurrecting the Farmington Bethel in the next year. We voted to support them and the next challenge will be to find council members and a Guardian for the girls. If you are interested in volunteering, this may be the opportunity for you. Being a former Job’s Daughter myself this is very exciting. Hats off also to Kerry Hanson who has worked so hard to get them to this point. She has volunteered to make all their gowns and capes and Jimmy has stated they have all the other things needed for the Bethel from anther that had disbanded. The adults that volunteer to support and meet with these girls will get CAV (Certified Adult Volunteer) training this summer. Dates are yet to be announced.
On anther note we also kicked off the new term picking our Secret Pals. All who wanted to participate got one along with their birth dates, anniversary dates, pets and hobbies. At the last meeting of the year we will creatively reveal ourselves to our Secret Pals. It is a fun way to get to know each other and can evolve into the Masons or the OES members to have Job’s Daughters as Secret Pals. Something to think about.
